Despite the fact that Max Verstappen just missed out on pole position, his team boss Christian Horner is satisfied. Verstappen was stuck behind Kimi Raikkonen who didn't get his tyres to the right temperature and was forced to settle with second in qualifying.

Stuck behind Raikkonen

"We found it hard to get the inter right unlike the extreme rain tyres. Max was great in Q1 and Q2 and then he was stuck behind Kimi for a couple of laps, so he couldn't really put the tyres on," said Horner to Sky Sports F1 after qualifying.

"In that last lap, he had a 'snap' where he lost about six tenths in turn seven. So losing pole was obviously very disappointing for him. Nevertheless, it is still a good position. But to dominate and then lose at the last minute is disappointing," continued Red Bull Racing's team boss.

Nothing is certain during the race

"We were only expecting two laps on the inters and that's why he stayed behind Kimi. In the dirty air behind Kimi, he couldn't get his tyres to work. It was a positive qualifying and well done Lance. It will be an interesting race. Anything can happen, it will be an exciting start," Horner concludes.
