What seemed to be a dominant weekend for Max Verstappen ended in frustration. The Dutchman stood head and shoulders above the rest until he lost pole position to Lance Stroll. It only went downhill from there.

De Telegraaf

It seemed to be Verstappen's weekend but he struggled after practice. De Telegraaf wrote: "A hopeful build-up ended in a Turkish disaster weekend for Max Verstappen. Verstappen recovered from a bad start on the wet and very treacherous asphalt, but a spin in third position behind Sergio Pérez put an end to a possible podium place or even a victory. It thus became a very frustrating weekend for the Dutchman, who also missed pole position on Saturday."

Het Parool

Het Parool believes that Verstappen could have won the race, but that he wasted his chances after the spin behind Sergio Pérez. “Verstappen could and perhaps should have won after a failed start, but on the hunt for the leader, he was very eager to follow Sergio Pérez's trail. Behind the Mexican, he lost all downforce and sight in full spray on the 18th lap, so he spun twice. All tread of the tyres was gone, so compulsory he pitted for new rubber."
