Ocon hopes for better times: 'At the moment I'm a bit unlucky'

Esteban Ocon showed his best side in Turkey by moving up from seventh place immediately after the start and winning places. Until he ran into his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who fled in front of Hamilton, resulting in the Frenchman spinning. An annoying situation, especially because the start was so promising.
The best start of the year
"It was probably my best start this year," says Ocon to Motorsport-Total.com. "I drove to third place and there was that unfortunate incident in turn one. Lewis was on the inside with Daniel, who went wide. The touch after that made me spin," but that was just the beginning.
"I was able to continue and everything was actually in good shape, but then I was hit again, this time by Valtteri Bottas in turn nine. He missed the braking point, so I was hit twice and had to go into the pit because of a puncture." In the end he crossed the line in eleventh place with Ricciardo in tenth place in front of him.
Lost a lot of points
Many important points for the constructors' championship have therefore not been won by Renault, and this is partly due to the situations that Ocon had to deal with. According to the Frenchman, there were good opportunities in Turkey, but that was all there was.
"Although there was no safety car, I drove to eleventh place. We were way behind, so the pace was very good. There were a lot of points on the table for us, but unfortunately I'm a bit unlucky at the moment. I hope this will change again". Eleventh is not what you sign up for, of course, and from a pace or qualifying perspective "fifth or sixth place was a realistic goal", says Ocon.
