Verstappen: “There are a few which could replace some Grands Prix we have”

The Formula 1 calendar for 2021 has been known for some time, but there is still one gap in the schedule for next year. A replacement for the Vietnam Grand Prix is still being sought. Max Verstappen has his preferences.
Last place on the calendar
Due to the coronavirus, the 2020 calendar had to undergo a major upheaval, with the result that only four Grands Prix took place on their original date. On the other hand, circuits such as Nurburgring, Imola, Mugello and Portimao made a one-off appearance. For 2021, Formula 1 will return to the regular circuits, but on 25 April there will still be a place available.
Verstappen would like to see one of the 2020 circuits return on the calendar for 2021. "We’ve had a few good races," says Verstappen on Motorsportweek.com. "Portimao was cool but I hope we have a bit more grip if we ever go back there. Imola was nice – I think the track was very old school. Nurburgring I also enjoyed so there are a few which could replace some Grands Prix we have on the calendar.”
Choice Verstappen
If he had to choose one circuit for the last free spot in 2020, he would go for Imola. “A bit more old school. You’re running at some corners all the way up to the gravel so if you go too wide you’re off so I would go for that one, even though Mugello was nice as well. It’s difficult to pick but like I said it’s better to remove a few of the ones we have now and add these back in.”
