Since the hybrid era in Formula 1, Mercedes have been very dominant. In all these years, Lewis Hamilton has only been defeated once: By then-teammate Nico Rosberg in 2016.
Rosberg caused a minor earthquake when he announced his departure from Formula 1 shortly after winning the title. Now that he sees how much Hamilton continues to win, he appreciates his world title all the more.
Rosberg is proud of his title
"To beat Lewis, you have to do everything 100% perfect," said Rosberg in an interview with Sky Sports F1. "It requires total dedication and perfection. Everything has to be right throughout the season."
He continues: "I've managed to beat him for one season and I'm very proud of that. And the more he wins, the more I understand how hard it was to win from him".
Rosberg says he enjoyed the Turkish Grand Prix, and the driving skills Hamilton showed there. "I've seen him up close on several occasions and can confirm that he is simply the best in these conditions."
Rosberg doesn't want to say if Hamilton is the best of all time. "In addition to Schumacher and Lewis, there is Senna, Fangio... It is simply impossible to say which one of them is the best. They were all unique in their own way."
