Little hope for Verstappen: ''Makes only the first weekend a chance''

The Bahrain Grand Prix has never been one Max Verstappen has performed well in. He has never been on the podium here. According to Robert Doornbos this is probably not going to change this weekend.
Verstappen has already raced in the Bahrain GP five times, but it has not yet been very successful. In 2016 he came sixth with his Toro Rosso and last season he came fourth with Red Bull Racing, but Verstappen always failed in the other three editions. The lack of power always broke the Dutchman.
Again no podium for Verstappen?
''It's a real power circuit, where Mercedes normally wins. Next week, if a different layout of the same circuit is used, there will be even more straights and it will be a Mercedes party,'' says de Doornbos opposite Nu.nl. The former Formula 1 driver is also looking a week ahead.
Next week they will drive again in Bahrain, but on the so-called Outer Loop. This outer track of the circuit consists of only a few corners and that will be a party for Mercedes, according to Doornbos.
''Verstappen only has a chance to win the first weekend. Next week could be a very long race for him," concludes the Dutchman.
