After an exciting qualifying for the Grand Prix of Bahrain, a provisional starting grid can be drawn up. Due to problems with Carlos Sainz and possible damage to other drivers, it is not yet certain whether the current grid will also be the final grid.

Lewis Hamilton achieved pole position in front of his teammate Valtteri Bottas. Behind him there are also two drivers from the same team, the Red Bull Racing drivers. Max Verstappen will start third, ahead of Alexander Albon. Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo are on the third row of the grid.

The top ten will be completed by Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris and Daniil Kvyat. The first drivers with free choice of tyres are the two drivers from Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Lance Stroll had a disappointing qualifying session and did not make it past 13th place, ahead of the impressive George Russell. Carlos Sainz was unable to set a time in Q2 due to braking problems and therefore started from P15.
