Russell: “This was obviously not the way I wanted to get my chance"
George Russell gets into Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes this weekend. The seat he has been waiting for suddenly becames available for at least one Grand Prix. Now that he can use this seat during Sakhir GP is welcomed, but it is different than he expected.
Russell had imagined it differently
After 18 months of F1, Russell still has a big zero to his name. The young Brit has not yet scored any F1 points. This weekend he suddenly has the chance to take a lot of them with the fastest car on the field.
However, it is not the best situation. Russell tells on SkySport.com: “This was obviously not the way I wanted to get my chance on this team. In any case, I had not imagined it that way. That does bring mixed feelings. ”
Pity for Russell
The fact that Russell has been apart of the unsuccessful Williams for two seasons after winning the F2 Championship in the difficult 2018 season arouses some pity from his colleagues. His competitors give him the best.
Russell: “Half of the grid has sent me messages, everyone hopes that I am doing well."
