Juan Pablo Montoya returns to McLaren after sixteen years

Juan Pablo Montoya will return to his old team McLaren in 2021. The Colombian was racing for the team in 2005 and 2006 in Formula 1 and will compete for the IndyCar team in 2021 during the famous Indy 500.
McLaren sees an old acquaintance
Montoya has a rich history in motorsport. The young Colombian impressed at a young age by winning the Indy 500 in 2000 when he first took part in the Indy 500. In 2001 it earned him a seat in Formula 1 with Williams after he had previously won the Formula 3000 and FedEx Championship Series.
Montoya also makes an impression in Formula 1. In six seasons in Formula 1, he drove for the biggest British brands in Formula 1: McLaren and Williams. With Williams, Montoya competes seriously for the title twice. In 2002 he was on pole seven times and in 2003 he won two races. However, there will never be a title.
Montoya returns
Now 14 years later Montoya is back at McLaren. He will drive for the IndyCar team and brings a lot of experience with his two victories. He joins regular drivers Patricio O'Ward and Felix Rosenqvist.
''I am very excited to join Arrow McLaren SP for the Indianapolis 500," Montoya says in the team's statement. ''I have a great history with McLaren of my F1 days and I look forward to making some more memories during next year's Indianapolis 500," concludes the Colombian.
