Hamilton reacts to P3 in Abu Dhabi: "You can't win them all!"
The 2020 World Champion Lewis Hamilton finished the season in third-place, behind teammate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. The British driver had a relatively quiet race, and actually came under pressure from Alex Albon in the closing stages.
"You can't win them all. I think considering the past couple of weeks I've had, Im happy with the weekend, it's not 100% or as good as we would have liked. Congratulations to Max, that was a hard race for me. All year I've been physically fine but that was a hard race. I'm glad its over. Thank you to the team for their support," Hamilton said after the race.
A week on from COVID-19
Last weekend, Hamilton missed the Sakhir Grand Prix after testing positive for COVID-19. He had recovered in time, but suggests that it hampered him a little bit.
"Physically it has, my body is not feeling great. Look on the bright side, I made it through. I'm grateful for my health and looking forward to the next few months we had," Hamilton continued.
"The red bulls were too far out of reach, we couldn't hold on to the pace. Good to see Alex tight up there to give us a battle because that's what we need. I don't know if it was a boring race to watch but as soon as you get three or four seconds behind you get turbulence. I hope in 2022 this improves."
