Wolff is in no hurry with Hamilton contract: "Doesn't have a specific date"

At Mercedes one seat has not yet been filled in and because of Sergio Perez's announcement at Red Bull Racing that spot is the only one left for the 2021-grid. There is a very good chance that Lewis Hamilton will be there next year, but that requires negotiation and Mercedes seems to be delaying that deadline further and further.
After all, according to team boss Toto Wolff, the deadline to put together a contract is suddenly a lot further down the road. "We don't attach a special date to it, because I don't want to be under pressure from the media, while nothing has yet been signed. There will come a time when we have to sign, at the latest before the test days," explains Wolff to Motorsport.com.
Hamilton is definitely with Mercedes?
"We have had huge successes in seven consecutive championships, so I don't see any reason not to continue together," Mercedes' team boss explains when asked about the current situation. "He is in the shape of his life at the moment and he will stay there for some time to come. Going on together is therefore a no-brainer."
For a long time, Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes, had doubts about the level of the salary of the seven-time world champion. However, President Ola Kallenius no longer sees any doubts about Hamilton's contract. "I believe that his dedication and professionalism surrounding his life has made him one of the best ever. We would very much like to continue the cooperation and it is up to Toto to record that," concludes Kallenius.
