There will be no replacement for Simone Resta at Ferrari, and so the Italian race stable will start 2021 without a technical director. A remarkable move by Mattia Binotto.

Ferrari chooses to park Simone Resta at Haas in 2021. The engineer who was previously active for Alfa Romeo will now help the Americans. At Ferrari, there is still a unique organisational culture, where there is no technical director to be found. A place that is filled by leaders in other teams is apparently not necessary at Ferrari.

Ferrari without a technical director

''There will be no technical director at Ferrari. As Simone Resta leaves, his duties will be taken over by Enrico Cardile, who is responsible for the chassis today. So we don't have a technical director who does all the parts, but we have different parts with our own managers on top,'' says Binotto according to Racefans.net.

The Italian pride chooses a different way of working than its competitors Mercedes and Red Bull, but McLaren, Renault and Racing Point also work in this way. ''As always, we are looking for people who can strengthen our organisation, but if we are to find those people, they really need to have added value for Ferrari,'' concludes the team boss.
