Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen were lagging behind from the start of the season. Partly because of this, the Dutchman ended up in a number of unfortunate situations. A shame, according to Ross Brawn, but he has seen a better Verstappen than ever.
"I think Max has matured very well this year," said Brawn in the F1 Nation podcast. "Especially when you think back to the Max of a few years ago... I have to say that he was pretty unlucky this year. It has happened a couple of times that his car didn't perform as it should and he got into incidents that weren't his fault. A number of great races from him were taken away from us as a result."
Verstappen gets competition from Russell
Brawn is excited about the future of sport with plenty of young talent coming through the ranks. George Russell is of particular interest.
"We have a lot of good drivers and I think we were all massively excited that George Russell got into the Mercedes. That was a fairy tale that didn't quite come true, but I don't think we will forget that. We ' “ve had some great stories this year,” said Brawn.
