McLaren: 'This ensures us that we are on top level in terms of budget'

2020 was a successful Formula 1 season for McLaren, who finished third in the championship. However, team boss Andreas Seidl sees a problem that could affect the development of the team.
The team needs a new wind tunnel, as well as simulation facilities. Until these facilities are in place, according to Seidl, McLaren can't hope to fight for the world title.
Battle in midfield
"I think we'll have another battle next year, between four or five teams. It will be about the same as this year," Seidl said to Motorsport.com.
"So we need to be realistic about the possibilities. On our side, there are infrastructure constraints, so it will take three years to complete all the updates. And it will also take time for the updates to bear fruit."
"Until then, we have limitations. But the team has a lot of potential now, and we will try to explore that next year."
Future of McLaren secured by investment
Due to a large investment, McLaren knows that they have the budget to get the infrastructure in order. "This ensures that we have everything we need to be on the same level as the large teams in terms of budget," says Seidl.
