Number of world titles not decisive for Verstappen: "That's good enough"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen grew up in motorsport. Of course, he competed at the highest level when he was seventeen years old. Most of his peers go to parties. Verstappen has had to miss out on many social activities, but he says he still has time for that.
Formula 1 drivers can't stay forever and Verstappen just wants to benefit as much as possible from the years in which he is active. Other fun things can wait. Moreover, he does not intend to stay as long as Kimi Raikkonen or Michael Schumacher.
"I started when I was seventeen, so I don't think I'm going to drive until I'm 43. Then you're still in your late 30s and you're still completely fit," said Verstappen in an interview for G-Star RAW, in which he goes on to say that he wants to do a lot of fun things with family and friends after his career.
Verstappen wants to get the best out of himself
The question is, of course, whether Verstappen will have achieved his objectives by then. This also applies, for example, to Fernando Alonso, who returns to F1 when he is 40 because he feels that his career has not yet been a success. However, Verstappen does not try to look too much at the end result with his goals.
"That is very difficult to say. If you're in a good car it can suddenly go very fast, of course. At the end of your career, you just have to be able to think back and ask whether you have made the best of yourself. If you can say 'yes' then I think that's good enough. Whether it's one, seven, eight or zero world championships, so be it".
