Norris can't wait: "I think all round, it's a better package"

McLaren will switch from Renault to Mercedes engines in 2021, something that Lando Norris is very happy about. The young Briton expects the new power source in the back of his car to be 'much better' than the engine of the past two seasons.
More power and reliability from Mercedes engine
Norris never thought a new engine would make things more difficult for McLaren. The British team is spending two development slots on the upgrade to Mercedes engines. Norris sees this as a step forward when it comes to performance.
"I think all round, it's a better package. It's more power. Touchwood, it's more reliability. It's a slightly better-fitting package, so as just a whole, there's a lot of positives about it," Norris said in a conversation with Motorsport.com. McLaren has previously driven with Mercedes engines from 1995 to 2014.
Not everything will be perfect straight away
Despite Norris being very positive about the new package, he expects that not everything will be perfect at once. "There's going to be some things which are a bit trickier, but as a package, it should be much better, and that gives us good confidence it will take us that little bit further towards the top."
