Vettel: "I don't have to understand Ferrari's decision to be honest"

Sebastian Vettel will start the 2021 Formula 1 season with a new employer. The four-time world champion was forced to leave Ferrari and has not had too much trouble doing so, according to Vettel.
Departure from Ferrari
At the start of 2020, the F1 world was shaken by the extraordinary news. Even before the 2020 Formula One season had begun, Ferrari announced that Vettel's services would not be used in 2021. So the German had to look for a new team and found it in Aston Martin.
''I don't need to understand Ferrari's decision to be honest, because it doesn't change anything. It's fine for me now and I accept it completely. When Mattia (Binotto) told me on the phone it was clear. I'm not going to then try to fight back or convince them of anything else,'' Vettel told RACER.
Only a few more years for Vettel
''I always think that when one door closes, another one opens. Of course at the time there were many questions about which doors would open, but it's not like I had all the choice in the world. It was more about whether I wanted to stay in Formula 1 or not, but in the end I made my decision.''
Vettel also realises that this could well be the last team he is in action for. ''I don't see myself in F1 when I'm 40, so I have a few more years, but not ten more. I have to take that into account. After what I have achieved in the sport there is a time when you start thinking about what you are going to do next, but we know the outcome for now and we will see how it goes from there,'' concludes the 33-year-old driver.
