Ocon: "I think we were touching with the finger on something"

Esteban Ocon had a solid return to Formula 1 after a year on the sidelines. The Frenchman was picked up by Renault and towards the end of the season things seemed to be going better and better.
The beginning took some getting used to for Ocon
It took Ocon some getting used to when he stepped into the Renault after a year without competitive racing in Formula 1. The 24-year old driver had set an important goal for himself: to make the gap with teammate Daniel Ricciardo as small as possible. This was improving and he rewarded himself in the Sakhir Grand Prix with his first podium.
"We were experimenting more and more on my side than we were earlier in the year," Ocon said according to Motorsport.com. The Frenchman says that in the beginning he was mainly working on sorting his driving out.
Very happy with the car
"In the end, I feel that we did that a lot better later in the year, and I was happier with the car. I was the happiest with the car in Bahrain 1 than I was the whole season," Ocon continued.
"That's where the car felt very strong. I think we were touching with the finger on something, and it was definitely the right way and the right progression," he concludes. Ocon will race in 2021 for the same team that now goes through life as Alpine. Fernando Alonso is his new teammate.
