Wolff sees Red Bull as a threat: 'Now a much stronger opponent'

The battle for the lead in 2020 was mainly between the two Mercedes drivers and Max Verstappen because Alexander Albon could not keep up. In 2021 the team will be driving with Sergio Perez, who has come over from Racing Point to take Albon's place. Red Bull Racing hopes this will make them a better contender for at least the constructors' title. Toto Wolff sees them as a bigger threat.
Strong opponent
Mercedes have been able to win the constructors' title relatively unscathed in recent years, as they have often been able to put two men on the podium. With the arrival of Perez at Red Bull Racing, that team has two drivers who, on paper, can make things difficult for Mercedes. Verstappen we know, Perez we have yet to see. In any case, Wolff expects a bigger battle.
He says this in conversation with ORF: "Definitely, I think Red Bull, with Perez, will be a much stronger opponent in terms of the constructors' championship. I expect Sergio to be very strong. It will also be interesting how he faces Verstappen. It's a new opponent."
"Otherwise, it's a season with the same cars as last year. I think Honda will really step on the gas to compete for the championship in their last year as a manufacturer. That's why it will be quite interesting," but whether it will be enough to bring home the championship for Red Bull will be seen once the season starts at the end of March.
