Wolff speaks up for Vettel: ‘It was the conditions that got worse’

The picture of the balding Sebastian Vettel has caused many reactions on the internet in recent days. It is said to be the result of his difficult years at Ferrari.
New environment
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff also noticed that Vettel was not doing well at Ferrari and hopes that the German world champion will find a better place at Aston Martin. "I hope he makes a good start," Wolff told RTL. Vettel started off quite well at Ferrari, consistently placing in the top four in the standings, but in the last two years he has been on a downward spiral, scoring just 33 points and finishing 13th in the championship last year.
Wolff believes the switch will be very good for Vettel. "Sebastian needed one thing above all else: a change of scenery. If you get more and more into a negative spiral in your team, then you need to make a change. That is what he has done."
Poor conditions
Vettel was run over by his teammate Charles Leclerc last season, which also earned him a lot of criticism. Wolff, however, stands up for Vettel. "I don't think he didn't perform, but it was the general conditions that got worse and worse." The Mercedes team boss therefore thinks we will see Vettel flourish again this season. "That's why I expect a lot from Sebastian."
