With the announcement of the new times for the upcoming Formula 1 season, it was also announced that there will be two Italian Grand Prix races. First, in April, the Grand Prix of Imola is on the programme. Then, the whole circus returns in September for the race at Monza.
Simultaneously with the announcement of the starting times it was announced that the Grand Prix at Imola will have a new name according to racefans.net. The Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio and the Provincial Governor of Emilia-Romagna jointly signed an agreement for the new name. The official name for the race is Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna.
Creative name
The circuit had to look for an original name for the race. The name Grand Prix of Italy cannot be used. The rights for this are with the organization of the race at Monza. That is why Imola now comes out with this name.
Last year the Formula 1 returned to the circuit of Imola after a long time. Partly due to the pandemic, many races were cancelled. Therefore, for the first time since 2006, the bolides started again on the legendary circuit. So this year it returns to the calendar.
