Nikita Mazepin was in the news again on Thursday. The court has fined the 21-year-old driver £274 for ignoring a red traffic light.

The Russian is said to have driven through a red light, despite the fact that the traffic light had been on for 1.7 seconds. It earned him a fine and three penalty points on his normal driving licence. The incident dates back to 24 June 2020, Racefans.net reports.

Mazepin to keep an eye on

Mazepin managed to collect as many as 11 penalty points on his racing licence in Formula 2 last year. With 12 penalty points, a driver is suspended for one Grand Prix, but fortunately for Mazepin, it did not happen. It is clear that the new Haas F1 driver does not always colour within the lines.

In December, a video surfaced of Mazepin groping a woman without permission. He was criticised for this and his new American team imposed a sanction, the content of which has not been revealed.
