Red Bull not in talks with 'partner': 'It will be like Mercedes'

The official confirmation that Red Bull hate to take over Honda's engines is not really surprising news. What is somewhat surprising is that they seem to be going it alone, although Christian Horner has indicated that he would be open to a 'partner' in the future.
"As far as badging is concerned, there are no discussions underway regarding that - it will be a Red Bull engine. So it will be, as Mercedes is a Mercedes, it will be an incorporated part of the car. So it will be a Red Bull. We are not beholden to any partner, so we have the independence to do it ourselves," Horner is quoted by Crash.net.
Red Bull wants to control it's own destiny as much as possible
However, he is still keeping an open mind. Details about the engine freeze are not yet official and it could be that Red Bull will benefit from a partner in the future. This could include the development of a new engine for 2025, which Red Bull also seems to want to do itself, depending on the costs.
"If an exciting partner comes along then, of course, it makes sense to look at it very seriously – whether that be an OEM or another type of partner, a battery manufacturer or whatever. It really depends what the regulations are”, Horner said.
