Horner: "We need to be in a position to take that on as well"

Red Bull Racing adopts Honda technology to make its own engines. The team seems to want to build their own engines from scratch in 2025 when new rules apply.
Major investment for the future
Team principal Christian Horner says he does not see the takeover of Honda's engine project as a short-term one. He would rather see Red Bull develop their own engines when the new rules come into force in 2025.
"It needs to be a long-term view because obviously, the investment into the facilities to gear up for this are quite significant. You've both got a short-term scenario of the existing regulations, and then of course whatever the new regulations are. We need to be in a position to take that on as well", Horner told Autosport.com.
Possibly a partner
Horner says Red Bull will have a factory capable of designing the next generation of engines. However, the Brit did say earlier that the team is open to having a potential car manufacturer as a partner, should they come forward.
