Marko sees potential: 'There were too many boring races'
- GPblog.com
Last week the entire Formula 1 delegation decided to freeze engine development. A wish that Red Bull would like to see come true. Especially since Honda is withdrawing from Formula 1. Team boss Helmut Marko also commented on the introduction of the sprint race.
It seems only a matter of time before the sprint race is announced. Something the Austrian team boss likes. "This is a good decision, we had too many boring races. Now we have found three suitable circuits where you can overtake", he told RTL / n-tv. With those three circuits he means Montreal, Monza and Sao Paulo.
No clarity yet
However, there is no clarity yet about the introduction of the sprint race. The race teams want more time to consider the idea. Another issue is probably how many points are awarded in the sprint race.
With the introduction of the sprint race, Formula 1 owner Liberty Media hopes to make the races more spectacular. A sprint race is similar to a normal race. However, it is much shorter. The drivers drive a shorter route and the race takes less time.
