Norris: 'Of course it is not fun to talk about it, but it is the best thing to do'

McLaren showed their new car for 2021 at the beginning of the week. Lando Norris also appeared in public again since his infection with the coronavirus. He came out of it healthy, but apart from the physical complaints, the coronavirus crisis also affects the mental health of many people.
McLaren has therefore started a campaign to make mental health problems a topic of discussion. Lando Norris can talk about this on the morning show of the BBC. He has been very insecure especially at the beginning of his F1 career.
"There is a lot of pressure and I did worry. I didn't have the confidence and the belief that I could stay in Formula 1 for a long time or that I would make it at all. When things didn't go well, I beat myself up over it. Mentally I had a lot of trouble with that."
A positive influence on his fans
Yet the young Briton has a positive influence on his fans. Because he has direct contact with his streams, he can also have a positive influence on their mental health. Something he says he has become better at over the past few months.
"Of course it is not nice to talk about it, but that is the best. I get messages of 'how do I get over this?' or positive messages like 'thank you for doing this, because I was struggling and you really helped me in that area. It's nice to get those messages and have an impact on people. I think I've gotten much better at that in the last few months."
