The potentially explosive mix of characters at Haas in 2021
With the exception of their very first season, when the team was a novelty and also performed quite well, Haas is likely to receive more media attention than ever in 2021. That is of course good for the sponsors, but it could also go wrong.
Haas are no strangers to negative media attention in the past. However, it all pales into insignificance compared to the potentially explosive mix that Haas can present us in 2021.
How long will the German press be gracious?
In the first place, they have of course brought in a positive story with Mick Schumacher. Only by his presence will the team receive inordinate attention for the first few races. However, that positive atmosphere can change quickly. There is a good chance that he will drive at the back with this car without a chance of scoring many points.
The German press in particular will then want to get a story. If it's obviously up to the car, they'll do it to Haas. Even more so if teammate Nikita Mazepin is faster than the German. Then Schumacher will have a very tough year and given his seasons in the junior classes, this is certainly possible.
Mazepin and Steiner, a spirited duo
And yes, Mazepin. It doesn't make much sense to rekindle his entire history here, but of course, he is the fuse. The controversies do not come out of the blue for him and it will be very interesting to see how he reacts in interviews.
Finally, add the spirited Guenther Steiner as team boss and you already have a successful fourth season of "Drive to Survive". Especially last season Haas still excelled in invisibility, but it must go very strange for that to be the case again in 2021.
