The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is not scheduled to take place until June, but the organisers have already announced that the race will be held behind closed doors. They feel it is too early to allow fans around the street circuit.

Azerbaijan GP without fans

After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was cancelled in 2020, this year the organisers will do everything in their power to make the race happen. For a street circuit it is, of course, more difficult to hold a race without a crowd than for a permanent circuit, because a whole city has to be closed off for the race to take place.

In 2021 the race will take place, but due to the ongoing problems with the coronavirus, the organisation has announced that the race will not be open to the public. ''The decision was taken for health and safety reasons related to the coronavirus, after long consultations between the organisation, F1 and the FIA'', reads the statement.
