Perez answer to criticism from former team: 'Got a lot of points thanks to me'

With his move from Racing Point to Red Bull Racing, Sergio Perez steps into a car that is perhaps the least similar to the one he was used to. It will be interesting to see if he can adapt to that. According to his former technical director he was not getting the best out of the car either.
This was said by Andy Green of Aston Martin last week when he compared the driving style of Sebastian Vettel with that of Perez. According to Green, Vettel has a less extreme driving style than the Mexican, whose approach ensured that the car was not getting the maximum out of every circuit.
Perez shrugs off criticism
Perez, who was sidelined at Racing Point in favour of Vettel, has a good answer to that according to Racer.com an apt answer to that: “Well, I think thanks to that ‘extreme driving’, we managed to get a lot of points!” Perez said. “In a way, I think it helped us a lot in the past. And I just have to keep improving every year, try to make it more complete."
Perez is well aware that he will have to adapt to the 'completely different' RB16B. That he should be considered capable of doing so has been proven by his long career. In his time at Sauber, for example, Perez was known as a driver who was very good with the tyres and achieved several podiums with that strategy.
