Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner has revealed the feedback from new driver Sergio Perez is very similar to what Max Verstappen has to say about the RB16B. He is very happy with what the the Mexican showed during pre-season testing.
Perez feels at home at Red Bull
"It's a good personality to have here. You can see he has a lot of experience as a driver. You can see that in how he approaches the car and what kind of questions he asks. The feedback is very similar to the feedback Max gives as well," Horner said about Perez on Sky Sports F1 Show.
The relationship between Verstappen and Perez is also building well. Perez quickly felt at home with his new team and has quickly worked his way into the team revealed Horner.
Performance you could not ignore
The choice for Perez was not an easy one, as Horner admitted that almost everyone in the team would have liked to continue working with Alexander Albon. But at some point, the team couldn't ignore Perez's performance anymore.
"The absolute crucial moment for him was winning that race from the back of the grid in Bahrain and following that performance, you couldn’t ignore what he’d managed to achieve," said Horner.
"You just couldn’t ignore a talent form of a driver with Sergio’s experience so in the end it was relatively straight forward but we were just lucky that we had time on our side," Horner concluded.
