Whilst the opener of the Formula One season in Bahrain already predicted enough of a show, a spectacular weather forecast now adds to the excitement; sandstorms could blow over during the Grand Prix in Sakhir on Sunday.

Whereas Friday and Saturday will be mostly hot and sunny at the Bahrain International Circuit, on Sunday, the temperature is predicted to drop and the wind to pick up, as the Italian branch of Motorsport.com reports. This could affect the scheduled opening race of 2021.

Due to the strong winds, there is a chance that sand will be blown across the track during the Bahrain Grand Prix and will remain on the asphalt. This happened before, during the winter tests at the same circuit earlier this month, when parts of the track were difficult to drive on for a short period of time.

Unpredictable

While the weather forecast will undoubtedly have an effect on the race it is difficult to say exactly what this will be. It's also possible that the lower temperatures on Sunday will benefit the teams compared to the rest of the weekend. Nevertheless, it's something to keep an eye on!
