Verstappen shows confidence: 'Then we can definitely win'

Max Verstappen will start the opening race of the 2021 season from pole position today. Red Bull Racing already looked fast during the winter test and the Dutchman took pole position convincingly. In the build-up to the Bahrain Grand Prix the Dutchman let it be known that he is confident of a good result.
"It's looking good. We had a good day yesterday and now I'm just really looking forward to today and we're going to try and get a good result," explained Verstappen. The entire team at Red Bull has clearly worked hard to adapt to the new rules and it's now paying off on the track. Not only the aerodynamics of the car have improved, also the engine performance seems to be better than Mercedes.
A good end to the weekend
"It was hard work and not giving up. We knew we had to close the gap further and that's what the team has done this winter. We really tried to work harder than the competitors. The engine has really stepped up but also the car itself has really improved." So although Verstappen looked hugely strong in qualifying, he still has doubts about how the race will go.
"It will have to go well though. We have to try to have a clean start and if the car is fast enough, then we can definitely win". All in all, Verstappen has enough confidence to turn pole position into a good start to the season."So far we've had a good weekend, so I hope we can finish the same way today," Verstappen concluded.
