The race of Sergio Perez started very badly. The Mexican stalled during the warm-up lap and had to start from the pits. Perez had a good race to catching up through the midfield and finished in fifth place.

"I'm happy we managed to get the car working again," Perez told Ziggo Sport of the stoppage during the warm-up lap. After thirty seconds of being stationary, all systems worked again. From the pit lane, Perez managed to score ten more points. "I was able to do a lot of kilometres again, that was the most important thing about today."

About the performance of the RB16B Perez is in any case praising. "The car has a lot of potential. It's a shame Max didn't manage to take the win though," he says of his new teammate's second-place finish.

Jack Plooij then goes on to cite the fact that Verstappen was missing an extra Red Bull car upfront to outplay Mercedes by two trumps. "That's going to come. That's what the team needs, it's coming. Today we made another good step. The race pace was better again than yesterday. There's progress being made. We have to work on from here," said the Red Bull driver.
