Herbert on Hamilton: "Heard he's not very happy with the situation"
- GPblog.com
There was much speculation last winter about Lewis Hamilton's future with Mercedes and in Formula 1 in general. Because the two parties have only signed a one-year contract, it will not be long before speculation flares up again. In fact, it is already starting now.
One of the reasons is Johnny Herbert, who is quoted by Motorsport-Total.com as saying: "I've heard he's not very happy with the situation", referring to the fact that the world champion was only allowed to sign for one year and may not have got the best out of Mercedes in other respects either.
"I hope he doesn't quit because he can still give a lot to Formula 1. We know how important he was to the global growth of the sport in many areas," continued Herbert, who knows that many people only turn on the TV for F1 to see Hamilton race.
Verstappen and Red Bull motivate Hamilton
According to Herbert, Hamilton's motivation will not be lacking, especially if the coming season is as exciting as it seems now. "If Max and Red Bull can challenge him for a whole season, he will enjoy it," he said.
The only question that then remains is whether Mercedes also have the motivation to keep going. Not just with Hamilton, but with Formula 1 as a whole. It is a small dark cloud that still hangs over the team, but Herbert is convinced that another team will have a place for Hamilton.
