Producer Drive to Survive hopes for title fight: 'A dream start for Verstappen'

The third season of the Netflix series Drive to Survive received mixed reviews. On the one hand, it provided another great look behind the scenes, but some things were also exaggerated. For fans of the series, however, there is good news about the future.
Drive to Survive continues
Drive to Survive began a first season in 2019 when it had been able to go behind the scenes for a year during the 2018 Formula One season. Many small teams that normally received less attention suddenly found themselves in the spotlight with this series. The series was followed up in 2020 and 2021, and Netflix is also working on another season this year.
''There's nothing official yet, but it's being worked on. There will be a fourth season, but what that will look like is not yet certain. It will stay in the same format a lot, and then we'll see where the story takes us'', says James Gay-Rees, producer of the series, in the podcast In The Fast Lane.
A fifth season on Netflix as well?
''Of course, everyone is hoping for a fight between Red Bull and Mercedes. Verstappen almost had the dream start. Red Bull is trying to keep expectations low, but everyone thinks it will be between those two teams. The fight in the midfield is also interesting, with a battle between McLaren and Ferrari at P3.''
The producer is even looking further ahead than 2021. He himself hopes to continue with this series for a long time, although he also knows that he depends on the reactions. ''We would like to continue with it. We always try to make the new season better than the previous one,'' the producer concludes.
