Lewis Hamilton has been on pole position more than 100 times now. So it is not surprising that he also has by far the best average qualifying. The drivers on the current grid who follow him are by now familiar names, but we also see some surprises in this list.

Ricciardo remarkably low

What about the still high position of Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn has spent the last two seasons in the midfield or at the back, but his successful career with McLaren, Lotus and Ferrari has lasted so long that he has not yet been overtaken by Charles Leclerc or Fernando Alonso.

The fact that Lando Norris is ahead of his new teammate Daniel Ricciardo with his average qualifying is also remarkable. Of course, the Australian has had some lesser years with HRT and Toro Rosso, but at Red Bull Racing he was known as a qualifying beast and was often faster than Max Verstappen.
