Nurburgring organisation surprised at rumours it's set to host replacement GP

Rumours that the Nürburgring is the possible replacement for the Canadian Grand Prix were not confirmed by a statement from the organisation of the German circuit. Managers at Hockenheim have not been approached by Formula 1 yet.
"We are a bit surprised that rumours are now emerging about an allegedly almost fixed Grand Prix on June 13th," the organisation confirmed in a statement quoted by Motorsport.com.
A spokesperson for the circuit continued, confirming that there have been no discussions with Formula 1 regarding the organisation of a replacement Grand Prix. "The fact is: There have not yet been any specific discussions with Formula 1."

Nevertheless, the Nürburgring remains interested if the FIA is looking for an alternative venue for a Grand Prix weekend. On this, the statement reads: "If Formula 1 - for example due to cancellations from other racetracks - wishes to hold an event under conditions similar to those in 2020, we are open to any discussions."
