Early races in Europe pay off: Rain also expected in Portugal
- GPblog.com
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was a real spectacle and for a large part that was due to a rain shower just before the race. European races early in the season seem to be a nice change in that respect, as rain is also scheduled for Portimao.
Normally a Formula 1 season is organised in a way that it chases the sun. In the beginning of the season, the F1 starts in places where the sun is shining at that moment, only to move to Europe after a few months. In 2021 however, F1 will be in Europe early and that made for a great race in Imola.
Rain in Portugal
Of course, it is still early, but the Portuguese Grand Prix might also be rained out. At the time of writing, there are already lots of rain showers in Portimao and that will remain so in the coming period. According to Weather.com, we can expect heavy rain for the GP in Portimao.
Where in Imola it was still dry until the race, there is already a 60 percent chance of rain on Friday, May 1 according to Weather.com. On Saturday this will decrease to 45 percent and on Sunday there is again a 60 percent chance of rain. Most of the rain is expected in the morning, so who knows the GP will stay dry.
