Verstappen looks back: 'Didn't maximise performance on Saturday'
- GPblog.com
So far, both races this season have left us eagerly awaiting the sequel in Portugal, not least because both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton seem to be on form and a new neck-and-neck battle seems to be in the making. How does the Dutchman look at it?
Good start
In an official Red Bull Racing press release Max takes us back to the start in Imola. How did Verstappen experience that moment? "It felt like I had a good start. On Saturday I hadn't pulled out all the stops, so it definitely felt good to lead the race from Turn 1."
In any case, the Dutchman is pleased with the RB16B: "I'm happy with what we have with the RB16B. It's faster, has more grip and better balance. We have lost downforce with the floor, but I think we have lost a little less than other teams and that shows we have made a good step forward."
Long season
So it looks like Red Bull are finally there at the start of the season, something Verstappen has also noticed. "We start the season strong, the best since I've been with the team," he said. Yet the Dutchman never loses sight of reality: "It's a long season, and if we want to fight for the championship, we have to keep improving."
