Verstappen ruthlessly pushed Hamilton aside
- GPblog.com
All eyes will be on Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen on Sunday afternoon. The number two and three on the grid are battling it out for the world championship this season and are currently evenly matched. Nico Rosberg expects a great fight, although he warns Verstappen as well.
The former 2016 world champion knows what it's like to fight a battle with Hamilton. The German argues talking to Sky that the pressure on Verstappen this season is different to last year. "Then Max only had the chance to win a race once in a while. Now, together with Lewis, he is one of the favourites, and that changes a lot. You have ten times more pressure as a driver. Because with such a good car, you can't afford mistakes anymore."
Battle between Hamilton and Verstappen
Formula One fans see the battle between Verstappen and Hamilton on the track, but Rosberg argues that it also continues behind the scenes. "The battle is in full swing, on and off the track. On the track we are seeing exactly what fans have always been looking forward to: an exciting wheel-to-wheel duel. Verstappen pushed Hamilton mercilessly aside in Imola, and Hamilton is not going to forget that all season.
"Lewis didn't say a word about it on the radio," Rosberg continued. "But believe me, he has remembered that moment and will act accordingly. For us spectators, it's all fabulous." It only makes Sunday afternoon's race in Portugal all the more interesting.
