From 2022 Red Bull Racing will be on the grid with their own engine, which they bought from Honda. The Japanese engine supplier will stop delivering engines after this year and Red Bull has chosen to build their own engine. With the designs from Honda they will start working on the engine from next year.

They also added some big names to their engine project, mainly names that were also connected to Mercedes' engine success. From next year onwards Red Bull will work hard to have a new engine from 2025 onwards. Toto Wolff had his opinion about that in Portimao.

Statements from Wolff are "nonsense"

He predicted that Red Bull will sell the rights of Honda and then resell them to a new supplier, such as Volkswagen. Helmut Marko contradicts these rumors in conversation with Sport1.The. However, he harshly contradicts these rumours, "He made an inappropriate comment that we get the rights from Honda to pass them on to Volkswagen. That's complete nonsense.

"That would be unfair and is not planned. As long as the current regulations hold, we are solely responsible for this engine. But we are open to collaborations in the future, whether it is for the name of our engine or more. Everything is possible and desirable so that we can control our costs," Marko concluded.
