Wolff praises Mercedes strategy: 'Brilliant'

It didn't look like it after the first lap, but Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes once again managed to pull the race towards them. A daring pit stop strategy saw Hamilton successfully overtake Max Verstappen at the end of the race to take the lead.
On the back row
Speaking to the Sky Sports cameras, Toto Wolff said of the Spanish Grand Prix. "I think we had a fast car, but if you lose position on the first lap you are on the back row. I think upfront it's so difficult for Red Bull to make the right decisions because you lose position and you could have lost the race."
Brilliant strategy
The race was won thanks to Mercedes' strategy of bringing Hamilton in for a second stop. "Brilliant," Wolff jubilated. "Together with the guys back home [at the factory] a brilliant team. I'm so proud."
"This takes a courageous move," Wolff continued. "When you see the gap widen to over twenty seconds you can't believe you're overtaking, but we saw that Max Verstappen's tyres were suffering a bit more and we stayed close. Our planner showed that he would overtake him with one lap to go."
