Drivers classification after Spanish GP: Verstappen and Hamilton in own duel
- GPblog.com
After a strategically exciting Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has achieved his third win this season. Max Verstappen, in turn, takes his third second place finish of his 2021 season. There isn't much that distinguishes the two drivers and that is well reflected in the driver standings, where the two are separate from the rest of the field.
Hamilton already has twice as many points as Valtteri Bottas and Verstappen in turn twice as many as his teammate Sergio Perez. Bottas' third place in Barcelona meant that he took over the third place in the standings from Lando Norris. Norris is now in fourth place, a single point ahead of Charles Leclerc.
Behind him is Sergio Perez, who has not had a great start to his time at Red Bull Racing. Daniel Ricciardo seems to have slowly found his rhythm and is gaining steam at McLaren. He is in seventh place after the Spanish Grand Prix. In Barcelona there were no drivers who could get rid of the 0-score, so there are still seven drivers without points.
