Perez is annoyed with himself: 'It takes me too long to get up to speed'

Sergio Perez finished the Spanish Grand Prix in fifth place, well behind the top three. The Mexican is still not feeling completely at home in the RB16B and is disappointed that he is taking so long to get used to his new car.
Red Bull Racing chose to put an experienced driver alongside Max in 2021. Perez had to do what Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly failed to do, which was to resist Verstappen, or at least support him. Perez indicated prior to the season that he would need time, but it is now taking him too long.
Perez is fed up with himself
''It takes me too long to get up to speed. When we go to a new circuit, I spend the whole Friday adapting my style. So I am not there yet with the car. You see it's coming, but it's not quite there yet'', Verstappen's teammate told Motorsport.com.
''I'm obviously getting more confident in the car. Every time the end of the weekend approaches, I think 'f***, I wish we would start now'. Because track time is so limited now, it's very difficult to get up to speed. But I think this weekend became different after Saturday. It made a big difference that I wasn't able to be 100 percent. So yes, this one I have to forget, we have to learn from this and hopefully we come back stronger in Monaco'', the Mexican concluded.
