Another surprising winner in the Power Rankings: "They were in their own league"

The Formula 1 Power Rankings is an alternative way of recognising drivers' performance, which does not depend solely on their finishing position. Several factors are taken into account and each driver is then given a rating. The Power Rankings are also led after the race weekend in Spain by a driver who did not finish on the podium.

Lewis Hamilton finally managed to beat Max Verstappen in the battle for victory in Barcelona, but neither of them gets the highest score in this week's Power Rankings. That honour goes to Charles Leclerc, who scores a whopping 9.8 thanks to a strong race. Leclerc started from fourth place for the third time this season, and overtook Valtteri Bottas in spectacular fashion at the start. He even had a chance of a podium place for a long time, but he had to let Bottas take it.
The winner of the race is in second position, with Hamilton scoring a 9.5. "Having lost out to Verstappen at the start, Hamilton then piled the pressure on the Red Bull driver throughout the race, before making the bold move to take an extra stop when he was right on Verstappen’s gearbox," reads the caption on Formula1.com.
Third place is for Max Verstappen, who is awarded an 8.8. "Verstappen demonstrating expert brinkmanship with his dive for the lead on Lap 1, qualifying just 0.036s off Hamilton (compared to 0.708s last year!), while he and Hamilton were quite simply in a league of two at the front of the field throughout the race."
