The Spanish Grand Prix didn't go as planned for Red Bull Racing. Not only Max Verstappen, but also Sergio Perez failed to achieve the desired result. The Monaco Grand Prix is a new opportunity for the team.
Perez had to come back from eighth place on Sunday, and with a fifth place he still managed to score important points. However, he feels more could have been achieved. "It was a tough weekend and it was compromised by the poor performance on Saturday in qualifying," Perez said in a Red Bull Racing press release. "I wasn’t one hundred percent physically so I did struggle but I’m back to full fitness now. Looking ahead I’m getting more comfortable with the car so I hope we are able to show that in Monaco and put in a good performance on Saturday."
Perez increasingly confident in the Red Bull
"Historically Red Bull has been strong in Monaco so I hope we are able to fight for the win," said the Mexican, who was on the podium at Monte Carlo in 2016. "You need a lot of confidence with the car there because the margin for error is so small. I’m feeling more confident with the car so I hope I am able to show that throughout the weekend."
For Red Bull Racing, it's all about being on top of things every weekend, while in the meantime the car for 2022 is being developed. "It’s very important to maximise weekend after weekend," Perez said. "There are big challenges ahead and the season is very long so it requires everyone to be at one hundred percent to bring that championship home."
