Webber looks ahead to Monaco GP: "You always have to be really careful in Monaco"
- GPblog.com
This weekend the GP of Monaco is on the program. For many new drivers an exciting event, and for former drivers a good reason to look back on their experiences at the world-famous street circuit. This is what Mark Webber did during the programme " Sport and Talk from Hangar 7" on ServusTV.
Because for Webber too, the Monaco GP was a special one. "When you drive onto the track, you first realise how tight it is. On another route, you have a wide view, because the grandstands are far away. In Monaco, you have people very close to the track and the photographers who are actually already on the track. This coming weekend will be sensational," the Australian said. He also gave the current drivers a tip.
"In Monaco, you always have to be careful not to hit the barriers with your rear tyre at the wrong angle. You are absolutely delighted when you have those 115 seconds behind you in qualifying. After a bad lap, the race is a disaster," Webber said.
Webber on his 2010 win
The Australian won the 2010 GP of Monaco in the Red Bull, to his own great surprise. With a separate story as a result. "I never expected to win in Monaco. I didn't have the right clothes with me that night for dinner with the royal family. Jackie Stewart was really pissed. We then looked around. I don't like the formal stuff. Two years later it was like that again, and Jackie was really pissed." Conclusion: always consider everything.
