Looking back at the two free practice sessions held in Monaco, Hamilton is happy with the Mercedes pace. He is surprised by challengers Ferrari, who topped the top two places in FP2.

"I think the Ferraris are really strong," Hamilton said in an interview after the second free practice session. The afternoon session in Monaco was dominated by Ferrari, who settled at the top of the timesheet for the first time since 2019. "I think the Ferraris are really strong, surprising to see them improve so much, but that's great. It means more competition," Hamilton is quoted by Motorsport.com.

Asked if he thinks this means the Scuderia can be threatening in the race as well, Hamilton is not yet willing to give a definitive answer: "I'm seeing what you're seeing. I'm generally just focused on my job. It looks like it. We'll see."

Good pace

Hamilton was the fastest man on the track after the two Ferraris. About his pace on the streets of Monte Carlo, he said the following: "I think the car is good, we've made some decent steps with the balance of the car. I'm generally really happy. I've got some changes I'll probably make this evening as we analyse today. It's going to be close [in qualifying]."

I've got some changes I'll probably make this evening as we analyse today. It's going to be close [in qualifying]." the Brit predicts.
