Lewis Hamilton won the world title no less than seven times during his Formula 1 career but doesn't always get compliments for those achievements. Critics claim that Hamilton had the best car at his disposal during those years and therefore won easily. The driver does not really care about this.

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso spoke up for Hamilton last week when asked about his respect for him. The Mercedes driver also sees that his successes are sometimes trivialised, but that actually gives him more reasons to work hard. "There's always an excuse when someone else wins," he states to AS.com. "People will always find a way to minimise successes, so I don't spend time on that."

Hamilton knows how hard he has to work to be the best he can be and not make mistakes. "I have to take every opportunity I get and nobody can take that away from me. With more wheel-to-wheel battles I hope to get more chances to show it, to show people what I'm capable of. I will keep fighting and fighting."

Hamilton vs. Verstappen

This season, Hamilton has decent competition from Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is 14 points behind in the world championship for now, but the Englishman is far from winning his eighth world title.
