Leclerc cautious: 'Red Bull and Mercedes still have bigger margin'

After the Ferrari drivers' brilliant result in the first two free practice sessions in Monaco, Charles Leclerc is trying to temper expectations for the rest of the weekend. He calls the car's pace 'a little too good to be true' and anticipates a lot of work to be done before one of the Scuderia men takes a podium finish.
"For now it's looking good," Leclerc begins in conversation with Formula 1's official website, "but a bit too good to believe it, so let’s wait and see. Saturday, we will know exactly where we are in qualifying, and then we will go from there for the race.”
Setting his own course
Asked about his view on the Scuderia's chances of competing with the top two teams, Leclerc also doesn't want to make any promises just yet. He explains: "There’s still a bit of margin, but on the other hand, I’m sure that Mercedes and Red Bull have more margin than we have."
Also, Leclerc sees the key for this weekend in following his own plan, in order to circumvent the psychological game between Mercedes and Red Bull. "We shouldn't get carried away too much", said Leclerc. "We still have to work hard, and then let's see where we end up."
